What is lino printing?

Lino is short for linoleum, like the flooring! It is a method of printmaking where you carve away the negative space of your design from the lino, roll the ink onto the block, and then press onto your paper (or fabric!) It is often mistaken for screen printing, but they are completely different methods of printing, and yield very different results.

With lino, each print will come out a bit different from the last. This means each piece has its own unique character!

(it is not as intimidating as it sounds!)

But I am bad at art!

Art is a skill you develop with practice, trial, and error. Maya's is a low pressure, supportive environment for you to come experiment and learn. You might not make a gallery worthy piece immediately, but that's just fine. As they say, its the journey that counts, not the destination!

Do you host kids classes?

Maya's hosts events exclusively for ages 15+. Those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Certain classes or events may be 18+ if they involve alcohol (paint and sip, anyone?)

can i book a private class for a group?

Absolutely! Maya's is the perfect place for all kinds of events, from a casual crafting afternoon with friends, to paint and sip for a wholesome hen-do. Find more information about private hire HERE
